Lisa Després PT

Owner and Co-Founder


Lisa graduated from the University of Ottawa with a Specialized Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy in 1992. Since graduating, she has advanced her treatment abilities by completing specialty courses related to Functional Dry Needling, Manual Therapy, Active Release, Neural Release, and Taping. She has attended courses and conferences on Running Analysis, Running Injury treatment approaches and new trends in running biomechanics, running footwear and gear. Lisa also has a great interest in post cancer physiotherapy care. She works with clients post mastectomy and lumpectomy addressing the scar tissue, decreased shoulder mobility helping prevent lymphedema and guiding them back to physical activity. 

Lisa has a passion for studying and analyzing movement and uses this to help her clients regain their function at work, in everyday life activities and in their favourite sports. Lisa feels strongly that prevention is the best physiotherapy. She applies her experience and biomechanical knowledge in her running analysis sessions, running clinics and core classes helping her clients avoid unnecessary injuries.

Lisa loves being outdoors. She is an avid runner who loves being in the trails year-round running or snowshoeing. Her greatest personal running accomplishment is qualifying and competing in the Boston Marathon with her 8-month old daughter waiting at the finish line.

Brenda Walsh PT

Co-Founder & Registered Physiotherapist


Brenda has been living and working in the physiotherapy profession in North Bay since 1991. She graduated from McGill University with her Physiotherapy degree in 1978. Brenda has completed several post-graduate courses with particular focus on Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. Brenda is certified in Bike Fit as well as a Certified Nordic Pole Walking Instructor. In her 40th year as a Physiotherapist, she continues to be innovative in her approach to injury prevention and treatment. Her caring approach is sure to make any client feel at ease from the first time they come in for physiotherapy treatment.

For the past 7 years, Brenda has been training and helping runners achieve their goals by leading Active Running’s 5km through to marathon distance running clinics. Her passion for running is infectious and she is always there to push you through your last kilometer!

An avid runner, Brenda took up the sport of Triathlon at the age of 50. She has competed in the world triathlon championship in Florida, in 2009. She continues to support local races by either volunteering, pacing runners or being a competitive participant.

Julie Rossignol PT

Physiotherapy Resident


Julie is originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia, but has strong roots here in North Bay since this is where her mother grew up and where her parents met. North Bay is also home to some of Julie’s aunts, uncles and her grandmother. Julie first graduated from Dalhousie University in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. After working as a Physiotherapy Support Personnel in a private clinic for a year, Julie began her Masters of Science in Physiotherapy at the University of Ottawa, which she completed in 2017.

Julie really enjoys being active and particularly enjoys playing sports such as hockey and soccer. During her undergraduate studies, Julie volunteered as a student trainer for the varsity women’s hockey team at the neighbouring Saint Mary’s University in Halifax for 3 years, where she provided on the field care for athletes. Julie also enjoys volunteering with other sports teams, with experience coaching both hockey and soccer as well as volunteering with Easter Seals Nova Scotia and their Learn to Sledge program. More recently, Julie’s involvement within our community includes North Bay Icebreakers sledge hockey team both as a team member and as part of their bench staff, as well as the Tour de Trout 2017. She will also be participating at a provincial level in the Ontario Winter Games as a member of the bench staff for the Team North sledge hockey team.

Janet Davidson

Full Time Sales Associate, Personal Trainer and Physiotherapy Assistant


Janet was born in Sault Ste. Marie. Janet graduated from Lake State University in 1992 with a degree in Therapeutic Recreation. She has called North bay home since 2001. Janet is also a Certified Group Fitness Instructor, Certified Indoor Cycle Instructor and a Certified Personal Trainer. She has worked with many people to help them regain health and mobility and to achieve personal athletic goals.

As an athlete Janet has been an avid runner and cyclist for many years. At 45, she learned to swim and became a triathlete. She is proud to be a four-time Ironman Finisher! Proof that with hard work and dedication anything is possible. Janet’s passion is to keep clients in motion, whether it be by prescribing an exercise routine, by fitting you with the right shoe or by helping you find the right gear and nutrition. Jeff Mailloux

Part-Time Sales Associate and Physiotherapy Assistant


Jeff grew up in Walford, ON, a community west of Sudbury. He relocated to North Bay for work purposes employed as a Rehabilitation Assistant in nursing homes in the area and at the North Bay Regional Health Center. Jeff is continuing his education at Nipissing University pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

Running, triathlons and overall fitness are a large part of Jeff’s free time. He has competed in 3 half-marathons, 4 triathlons, and other various running events. North Bay has come to be called home with its great running community and plenty of trails and paths to run. Jeff is always ready to fit you in the right pair of shoes, help you find the right piece of apparel or the right type of nutrition for your physical fitness needs. You will also find Jeff helping out in the physiotherapy.

Devanee  Dewey

Part-Time Sales Associate and Physiotherapy Assistant


Devanee is an upper year Bachelor of Physical and Health Education (BPHE) student, and is currently a captain of the Varsity Women’s Basketball Team at Nipissing University. Alongside a solid basketball knowledge set, she also has competitive experience with Olympic Weightlifting.

Born and raised in North Bay, Devanee has plenty of experience with regard to physical activity in the area and with a strong academic background, she is eager to assist you with all your physical activity needs. As an aspiring physiotherapist herself, Devanee is dedicated to learning, and sharing her knowledge while helping in our physiotherapy clinic. Jordan Cascagnette

Casual Sales Associate


Jordan is a 4th year Bachelor of Physical and Health Education (BPHE) student, and Varsity Nordic Skier at Nipissing University. He also ran for the Nipissing Varsity Cross Country team for two seasons, and was named the Men's MVP for the 2014 season. Jordan completed his first marathon in Ottawa in May 2016 in a time of 2:48:12, qualifying him for the 2017 Boston Marathon. 

His passion for elite fitness and endurance sports led him to spend four years training and racing with Canadian National Development Center teams for Nordic skiing before enrolling at Nipissing U. Jordan has represented Canada at 2 major international competitions in 2011 and 2013, and has recently been named to Team Canada for the 2017 World University Games. Jordan is always eager to share his experience and knowledge with those who are passionate about endurance sports. He will always be happy to help you find the right gear to help you reach your goal.
